The sterling rococo style table top easel vanity mirror has a scrolling floral and leaf motif. The mirror is beveled, and its overall shape echoes that of a clam shell. The back and hinged stand, covered in red velvet, accentuates and heightens the silver by way of stark contrasts of textures and colors. Silver being the traditional gift for a twenty-fifth wedding anniversary, this would make a memorable expression of love. Maker's mark H.M for H. Matthews, Hallmarked: Birmingham,1898. A scroll at the bottom center reads 1874 J & M.S. 1899. It is in excellent antique condition.
