Magnificent tin glazed polychrome English Delft charger, dating 1730-1760. The piece is decorated in iron reds, blues, yellows and greens, with a Chinese landscape featuring a cockerel, Peking ducks and fanciful spired towers. This is then banded by a highly stylized border of scrolls and flowers.
This is a wonderful example of the combination of the exuberance, masterful technique and fanciful subject that makes this collecting area so viscerally appealing.
Generously sized for display at 13 1/2" wide and 2 1/2 " deep. There are no cracks. The usual edge chips from hanging are present, as well as the characteristic and desirable surface texture that give older tin glazed pottery pieces their age and character.
