Presenting a Mettlach Villeroy and Boch pitcher, circa 1890-1909. This is a very hard to find pattern, "Rosa'".
The body is decorated with applied transferware patterns over a cream base glaze. There is stylized floral pattern on the piece, which is then edged at the top and base by with a dimensional raised border enclosing a detailed geometric transferware border in a tile-like pattern.
The treatment of the spout is also raised, in a shield-shaped design that resembles a stylized ionic column. The lines around the borders and outlining the raised designs in the spout are all hand applied. The artist's identification number is hand painted on the underside, along with the company marks.
Condition is excellent other than a some light wear from use to the line that outlines the top of the tip of the spout. This is truly a small pitcher, not a creamer. Measures approximately 5 3/8" high. 4 " diameter base and about 6 " from tip of spout to edge of handle. Priority shipping and insurance are included for shipments within the United States.
