Offered here is a very old, rare and exceptionally fine example of an advertising plate. This plate is 7-¾ inches in diameter with a heavily scalloped rim. The body of the plate has an irregularly fluted area descending from the rim into the body of the plate. In the center of the plate is an area inches in diameter that contains a very detailed transfer picture depicting a mercantile with a large sign across the front with “L.C. Price and Son.
Please note the exceptional color and detail of the building, horse and wagon, etc. There are absolutely no signs of use or damage of any kind. The reverse of this beautiful piece shows the very old red mark “Made in Germany” enclosed by a circle.
I believe it would be very interesting to research this, as Wauconda, Illinois was organized in 1849.
