Offered to You at this time: an Outstanding example of Glass Maestro ,Alfredo Barbini's work,an outstanding sculpture of a hand blown,. heavily cased,Art Glass duck. The shape of the Bollicine( bubbles) that cover this particular sculpture were formed by the shape of the tool used to impress the pattern into the body of the bird while the glass was still in a pliable molten state. The Bollicine were then"filled" with a gold and copper mix. This technique was developed in the 1930's by Glass Maestro,Archimede Seguso The body was then cased "covered"with layer upon layer of clear glass .On occasion as many as six layers. You can see on various parts of the body,where the Bollicine while still molten,were (dragged ) to obtain , an illusion of feathers, quite successfully I might add. The clear glass beak and webbed feet have pure gold infusions, the base is clear glass,heavily ground and polished. This hefty fella stands 10 inches tall,and weighs in at 4 pounds.A lot of glass in a small space:..and Oh Yes! in As New,condition,
