"NOBLE CAVALIER IN A RED CLOAK" - is a portrait of a Cavalier that is finished in broad confident technique, which captures beautifully the play of light upon this image. Both the color and atmosphere of this canvas come alive, giving this figure a natural environment. The depicted image fires the imagination of bygone age and present highly decorative piece which in today’s market, as in the artist’s day, are very collectable.

Alex de Andries 1880-1929 Belgium School Alex de Andreis was a French/Belgian painter of the late 19th and early 20th Centuries. His career began as a soldier in the service of the Swedish and later of the Spanish crown. As a painter he established himself with his costume paintings. Andreis’ subjects were mostly genre pieces set in 17th and 18th Century costumes.
