A wonderful antique wood jewelry, trinket or it is large enough to be used as a sewing Box. European, believed to be French made, dated to late 19th century. Made of dark red wood with very nice grain pattern in darker color. The exterior of the lid embellished with French ivory (French ivory is a man made material) decorative band alternate with French ivory and brass beads and figural cartouche in the center. Interior of the lid decorated with petit point embroidery in threads and tiny beads. Very delicate, extremely well done embroidery protected with glass and framed in burgundy velvet. The bottom of the box has removable divider.
The box is in excellent condition without warp or any other damage. There is a lock unfortunately no key.
It measures 3.5" - 9 cm high; 9 1/4" x 6" - 23.5 x 15 cm.
