H. M. Rio Co. Keystone ware is very rare and hard to find. The company was active in late Victorian era. Rival of the Wavecrest, company produced items in similar style and design. Always hand painted the products decorated with various rococo molded patterns. This round powder or jewelry box dated to 1890's, made of opaque white glass and embellished with blue stain and polychrome hand painted floral design. It's marked to the bottom "H. M. R. & Co. / Phila. / Keystone / Ware".
It stands 2 3/4" high; 3 1/4" in diameter at the opening.
It is in excellent condition considering age, no chips or cracks. The paint shows slight if any wear and is as vivid as it was when it was first accomplished.
