A large Vintage to Antique, early 1900's, sterling silver Fruit or Vegetable Bowl. Weight 321g. This bowl in here is 9" in diameter, 2 1/4" deep, simple yet elegant it is embellished with gadroon 3/8" wide edge. It is in excellent condition considering the edge, no dents.
It was made for Shreve, Crump & Low Co. The company which was established in 1796 by watchmaker and silversmith John McFarlane, it is one of the oldest jewelry stores in North America. The present-day Shreve, Crump & Low is known for classic fine jewelry and timepieces, tableware, and Boston-themed gifts. During operation years Shreve, Crump & Low Co. made numerous notable commissions, among them is in 1908, an elaborate silver cup to honor Boston Red Sox hero CY Young. After the pitcher's death in 1955 this became the Cy Young Award.
