Antique French Enamel on Porcelain Miniature Portrait Plaque Bronze Champleve Frame
This antique 19th century French Limoges miniature portrait of Madame Recamier (signed pls see pictures) is a truly fantastic example of enamel paint over porcelain. The portrait depicts a lady in a pale blue dress and a blue shawl over her shoulder. Framed into an ornate gilt bronze champleve frame, topped by a large ribbon bow. Surrounding the portrait is a matting of old velvet, which is worn from time. All in one, we believe it adds a bit o' charm. The frame has a hinged metal easel for table top display as well as a loop ring for hanging.
The oval porcelain plaque measures about 3 1/2" x 3" . The frame, including the final, measures 4 1/4" in height and 5 1/4" in width.
It is in very good condition with general wear to the gilt, but no loss to enamel.
