Offered oil on artist board painting "Peasant in Red" by well known Russian artist Abram Arkhipov 1862-1930.
The painting measures 23" x 19" - 58.5 x 48.5 cm without frame; with the frame 31" x 27" - 79 x 69 cm. Framed in carved wood frame with red velvet lining. Condition is very good, without any damage.

About artist -
One of several highly talented Russian artist involved in the 19th century Wanderers (Itinerants) movement, Abram Yefimovich Arkhipov made his name in Russian art through his development of the "eventless genre", through his depiction of an ordinary workers and working class conditions, and also on themes from peasant life.

Provenance: The painting was obtained by Marta Erdeli (wife of well known artist Adalbert Erdeli) on April 21, 2001 at Meissner Neuman Auction House in Prague, Chech Republic. In 2008 painting was sold to Valentin Streltsov Iconograph in North America. Put for sale by his widow.
