This mythical Art Nouveau sterling silver pattern is called "Douvaine". This serving spoon is from the Unger Bros circa 1890. It is decorated with dolphins and the face of Neptune. The back of this spoon has the Unger Bros Trade Mark with an interlaced U & B in a circle with Sterling above and 925 Fine ( for the Sterling Content which is 925 / 1000 ). The Unger Brothers became one of the premier and most well-know American manufacturers of sterling silver jewelry and objects. Born to a family that immigrated from Germany, the Unger Brothers established their business in Newark, NJ and began producing sterling silver jewelry in 1878.
The spoon is 9 1/2" - 24 cm long.
It is in excellent condition without dents. Gold wash slightly faint, otherwise perfect.
