A rather unique and unquestionably gorgeous antique, late 19th early 20th century, wood box covered with beautifully embossed and hand painted leather. These wonderful antique wood boxes are more and more difficult to find and here you see one of them, a fine example of old craftsmanship, where attention to details, colors and shape make it an unique piece of art. This handsome box embellished with embossed & painted coat of arm and crown above double head eagle on domed lid. Scrolls and floral design on all and every side of the box. All of it done on beaded background. The work that was executed to produce such a delicate and detailed design is remarkable.
The box stands 3 1/2" high; 5 1/2 wide x 3 1/2" deep, measured at the base.
The box overall is in very good, nicely preserved condition. It has original lock and key. Key is turning inside lock but doesn't close it. It's been loved and taken care of yet shows age wear, two handles on sides are rusted adding charm to it, rather then that this impressive box is in wonderful shape.
