Wonderful mid-late 19th century French champleve Candle holder. Made of a bronze with square off white onyx base. The handle and candle socket embellished with champleve floral design, a technique in the decorative arts, in which troughs or cells are carved or cast into the surface of a metal object, and filled with vitreous enamels. The ornate design finished in colorful enamels. Very attractive and rare form piece delights us with beauty of an old craftsmanship.
The candle holder measures 6 1/2" - 16.5 cm long; 3 1/4" - 8.3 cm square base; stands 2" - 5 cm high.
Excellent condition with normal age wear, no damage, no loss to enamel.
