A delicate vintage 1950's French paste necklace and earrings set by Roger Jean Pierre, possibly for Christian Dior.
Roger Jean Pierre was one of the foremost jewellery designers used by Christian Dior to design pieces to accompany his couture collections. Pieces were unsigned and we are left to determine pieces based on design and construction. The open backed mounting to the stones, the use of foiled stones , use of navettes in the design, the hook clasp and the horseshoe earring clips stamped Depose are all design features used by Roger Jean Pierre.
The single row of clear and emerald pastes in floret clusters and clear round paste drops. The earrings reflecting the clear and emerald florets of the necklace.
The quality of the emerald and clear paste stones is outstanding; as always with quality French paste. The clarity, brilliance and sparkle of the paste stones is hard to capture - far more stunning in real life almost looking like the real deal. What may appear slight yellowing on the above picture isn't at all visible in real life!
Although many Roger Jean Pierre pieces we associate with bolder pieces he also produced finer and delicate choker style necklaces.
The necklace measures 15.1.2/ inch and the earrings are 3/4 inch long. The horseshoe earring clips marked "Depose".
In excellent vintage condition.
