A truly stunning and bold vintage 1950's Christian Dior Necklace & Earring Set with possible attribution to Roger Jean Pierre.
Roger Jean Pierre was one of the most renowned jewellers of his time. He produced jewellery for some of the greatest couture designers of them all - Christian Dior, Elsa Schiaparelli and Yves Saint Laurent. His work is highly sought after and collected and has certain design traits that help to identify his work.
This single row necklace with prong set smokey quartz and peachy brown topaz open backed paste stones and a single large glass drop pearl. The large central topaz is particularly striking and is a real eye catcher
The earrings with peachy brown topaz paste stones and a single glass pearl drop.
Necklace length 17 inch with drop of 2 1/4 inch. The earrings are 1 1/2 inch drop and 1/2 inch wide.
The "S" hook is signed made in France as are the backs of the earrings - unmistakably by Christian Dior. The "S" hook clasp is a trademark design feature of Dior for this period. It is well known and documented that early pieces of Dior were not signed.
The quality and hue of the stones is exceptional and entrancing with the glass pearl drops in good condition with good lustre. Some aged patination to the metal parts.
Altogether a rare and beautiful early piece of Dior couture jewellery.
