A rare vintage 1950's Lariat Necklace by Bijoux Elfe, Florence Italy.
Bijoux Elfe was one of the emerging group of Italian designers and producers of fashion jewellery in the 1950's. Elio Fedeli entered the fashion jewellery world in the early 50's, taking over the company of Cesari of Rome. Cesari & Fedeli provided the reproductions of antique jewellery for the film Quo Vadis 1951 and Ulysses 1955. Whilst retaining a strong link to the film industry, Elio Fedeli moved to Florence and opened a shop near to the Ponte Vecchio where success quickly followed. He was the only fashion jewellery designer among the highclass vintage jewellers and the goldsmiths on the Ponte Vechio.
Pieces by this designer are rare and hard to find.
This Medieval inspired necklace consists of runs of twin gold tone metal chain links with central gold tone metal panel links.Three medallions on each side, set in chased filigree mounts and deep blue mottled Venetian Glass cabachons with fine gold flecking; a larger central medallion is surrounded by deep blue wired glass beads.
Length of 26.1/2 inch. Medallions 1 inch dia. Central Medallion 1.3/4 inch.
Signed to back of central medallion Elfe Italy.
