Classic Retro ring with a twist, in warm 14-karat (as tested) rose gold. Classic, with an emerald-cut citrine in the center, weighing about 15.75 carats, having very slightly brownish, medium orangy yellow color of medium tone. The high, steep crown and small table create beautiful "life" (brilliance) around the center of the stone. This color contrasts with the traditional use of small rubies as accents on either side, with the strong magenta color that ruby from Burma shows, while the twist is that the four rubies, weighing about 0.60 carat total, are oval cabochon cut - an unusual use, rather than the faceted cutting style. The mounting also has scrolled gold elements on either side of the rubies, a signature look of the Retro style in rings. The split shoulders measure about 7.5 mm. wide where they end next to the top of the ring and the shank tapers to 2 mm. wide at the base. The ring is finger size 6 3/4 and can be sized up or down. It is of cast and assembled construction and is in good condition. The citrine (quartz) is abraded at the facet junctions, as is typical in vintage jewelry. This ring is suitable for wearing on a daily basis.
