This is an understated jadeite jade necklace, the sixty-four round beads graduating slightly from about 9.3 mm. at center to 7.75 mm. at the ends, and 24" long with clasp. They have green color, with a medium tone of slightly grayish saturation. I see the barest hint of yellow-green in the hue. There is also a small degree of aventurescence under magnification; the refractive index at ~1.66 is plainly that of jadeite jade.
The beads are very well matched, without cracks or surface flaws of any kind, except for a few tiny abrasions at the drill holes. The single strand is knotted on green silk, slightly frayed but with no spreading. The clasp is cast and assembled, and has an open wire bow design, centered with a round cultured pearl measuring about 5.3 mm. It is stamped with both "14K" and "585".
The necklace comes from an estate that was assembled 30-40 years ago. For the lover of jade, this is a simple complement to many outfits and a welcome addition to your jade collection.
