This extremely well-made hinged bangle bracelet shows just how gorgeous simple, classic jewelry can be. In 14-karat yellow gold (as stamped), two domed surfaces with fine criss-cross florentine finish border a center line of white round cultured pearls, strung on wire, that run all the way around. Each pearl measures about 3 mm., and the sixty pearls are all round, are excellently matched, and have very good luster. The piece measures almost 11/16" wide. It will fit an average wrist size.
On the white gold double tongues of the hidden clasp is stamped an old trademark for the California company ManArt. I have communicated with the company to learn that this piece was made about 25 years ago, which is confirmed by the present owner who has consigned it to me. The piece appears in a catalog, published in 1986, for the firm when it was located in Culver City, CA. (It is in Los Angeles today, having moved in 1997.)
This bracelet is in very good condition. There is a very slight dent, barely noticeable, to the gold on one side that was worn at the bottom of the forearm. Also, slight waviness to the wires that hold the pearls (more so on the bottom half) may be improved or corrected by a jeweler if the owner wishes, but it is likely that this feature was present to some degree when new. In general, the pristine condition of the florentine finish indicates the piece is wearable as is, with no apology for its overall appearance.
For a birthday or an anniversary gift that can be worn at any time, the simplicity and quality of this piece commands notice.
