The Dux Porcelain Manufactury began producing its fine quality pottery and porcelain figures from 1860 in Bohemia. These wares gradually became known by the name, "Royal Dux." The "Made in Czechoslovakia" mark appeared in 1919, when Bohemia was united with Slovakia and Moravia to form the new nation of this name.
This piece is one of twoRoyal Dux porcelains we are offering in our Ruby Lane shop. Both depict sporting dogs and all are marked "Made in Czechoslovakia, but only this one has kept intact its paper label. This pink triangular label reads, "Royal Dux Bohemia," and also the letter "M." The M dates this piece to the early 1950s. Very few Royal Dux pieces with this M mark have ever appeared outside of Eastern Europe.
Both of these stunning figures came directly from the family of the man who had lived in Czechoslovakia during the 1950s and spent holidays in his own and other Eastern European countries collecting an assortment of Royal. Dux figures. They are genuine and in mint condition. Although we are offering them individually, they work very well in pairs.
