These Victorian figures each sport double inkwells, which allowed the user to put two quill pens in each. Each figure is standing in back of a fence with a small peach and pink rabbit hutch before them. On the ground are several black and white spotted rabbits foraging on bits of greenery. Perched on each rabbit hutch are single rabbits, lying down to observe the others.
The boy and the girl both are hatted, and are wearing cobalt blue jackets that make a nice contrast to the other colors in the inkwells.
Both pieces are in excellent original condition with no restoration. The quill holder with the boy has some minor paint loss where one’s thumb would rest when picking it up. It also has a small old chip on the bottom edge of the oval base. Some of the gilt in the line around the base has rubbed off. The one with the girl has nothing to remark upon.
The boy quill holder measures about 4 inches high and 3-3/8 inches wide at the base. The other measures 4-1/2 inches high and is 3-1/8 inches at the base.
