I love these sterling silver and wood 'lucky charms' from the 1960s era, and have collected quite a few of them over the years. The idea is to rub their wooden tummy and hence attract good luck..! This theme harks back to charms that were popular during World War One, that were called 'Touchwud' charms.
This one is a lovely detailed rabbit, hare or bunny. It was made by the well known British charm manufacturer 'Nuvo' in the 1960s.
Nuvo Charms were designed and made in Birmingham (UK) from the 1960's to the early 80's and are recognisable by the Nuvo registration mark. This charm is marked underneath with the Nuvo diamond shaped registration mark for Sterling Silver.
Dimensions: The charm has a hanging length of just over ~7/8ths inch (2.3cm) including the jump ring, and is about 1/2 inch (1.2cm) wide. It weighs 3.6 grams.
Condition: The charm is in excellent order. No damage at all. No bent ears as I have seen on other similar charms! The wood has a lovely warm patina. The charm has not been cleaned.
