This is an elegant brightly colored pierced handled plate. The colors are bright in blue and pink. It is has raised area's, gold accents and is hand painted. It is 10 inches in diameter and unmarked. Many factories, particularly in the 18th and early 19th centuries, did not mark their wares. The absence of a makers mark is therefore considered normal. In fact porcelain distributors discouraged makers marks but encouraged pattern numbers. Factories that used makers marks did not mark all of their wares. In a tea service for instance it was usual for only the major items such as the teapot, milk jug and maybe a couple of cups to be marked. This is why unmarked items outnumber the marked pieces.
