This is a very old Atterburry lattice edge glass plate with a botanical polychrome blue, yellow and pink daisy floral print as decoration. There is some minor wear which is consistent with the age. The diameter is 10 1/2 inches. The plate is in wonderful condition with no chips, flea bites, and only minor damage to the polychrome.
Any imperfections are from the manufacturing techniques of the time.
It was made by Atterburry & Company of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The company was in existence from 1859-1902, and known by several different names over the years.
According to my research, this style of milk glass was manufactured by Atterbury & Company in 1892. From 1865 to 1893, they expanded their line to include this type of glassware. Before this time, lamp products and a few tableware pieces such as cups were the only thing the company produced. Some of their pieces were marked on the back, but in general, most were not marked at all. The unique border is the only indicator that this is an Atterbury piece. There are multiples plates in this style in the shop at this time.
