This wonderful example of a Civil War era memory pin is dated on the back in script Nov 16th 1861 along with the inscription In memory of Eugene Beckman Van Vechten. The brooch is oval, surrounded by two rows of pearls and set in 14k gold (tested). On the row of inner pearls there is a tiny pearl missing which could be easily replaced. In the center is a 24 x 17 mm bezel set moss agate set that is just lovely.
The pin itself measures 1.5 " by almost 1.25" and has the Victorian C clasp and longer pin.
If you would like to own an authentic piece of history this brooch would make a fine addition to your collection.
