This purse was from an estate on the Eastern Shore of Maryland that I obtained in 1980. It is gorgeous but does need a little restoration as it is missing one diamond and needs a little work on the edges to reattach some of mesh.
This beautiful example from the “rich 1920s” has been fully tested at 14k gold and weighs a substantial 117 grams. The diamonds in the handle (3) are approximately 3.5 mm round as are the two sapphires. Just one diamond is needed.
The purse handle measures approximately 4.75 inches across and is .25 inches wide. On one side of the handle (in the middle resides a heart); on the other side 4 initials. From the top of the purse to the bottom (not including the clasp or chain) is 4.75 inches.
One side of the frame shows a heart and the other includes 4 initials. This beautiful certainly makes a statement and would well worth the time to have it restored with a diamond in the handle.
