Being of Scottish descent – one grandma a Graham, the other a Stewart I have collected beautiful antique Scottish brooches for a long time. I am now downsizing my personal jewelry (getting old) as I have no daughters to leave it to. This pin was last worn by me at a Virginia State DAR convention where we were all dressed in attire with Scottish embellishments at one of our events. It got lots of complements.
To start, it is in very good antique condition but has had an extra silver bar attached on the back (long ago and not by me) for additional stabilization and there are a few tiny flea bites on the back of the orange colored agate (not on the front). It measures about 2 inches by 1 ¾ inches . For perspective, the rounded pieces are a tad over ½ inches wide. This is truly a beautiful Victorian Scottish brooch and would make a wonderful addition to your antique jewelry or Scottish antique jewelry collection.
