This antique chain is absolutely beautiful but has had an interesting life. It was purchased back in the 1960s by an antique dealer on the Eastern Shore of Maryland who has since passed away. She bought this chain broken and with no clasp. She had a contemporary clasp professionally put on it to make a necklace which was kept in her personal collection.
The chain, which I believe was handmade, has beautiful links in yellow gold with rose gold plaques. The plaques are of a delicate looking (almost filigree) design in rose gold. The contemporary substantial 14k clasp is set with 7 turquoise gemstones. The length of the necklace is about 20 inches and the width of the chain is 14mm (a little over ½ inch). This fabulous necklace weighs a substantial 39 grams. The clasp measures 28mm x 25mm.
This necklace is obviously a one of a kind. Thank you for taking the time to view my listings. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
