This ring is a wow! A true Art Deco era ring set with a beautiful pink sapphire or perhaps ruby. I say this because I bought it as a ruby more pink than red. I took it to a gemologist at Cardinal Jewelers, Pleasanton, CA for an evaluation about 15 years ago. He was able to test the stone and tell me that it is corundum which can be both sapphire and ruby. He wrote "the color is closer to pink or magenta sapphire than it is to ruby. The line between ruby and sapphire is an arguable point." Whichever it turns out to be, it is a genuine gemstone – sapphire or ruby that is about 6 mm round which looks to be about .75 carats. I must make a disclaimer as I am not a qualified gemologist. N/S on either side of the center stone is an approx. 4.5mm diamond, E/W approx.. 4 mm diamond – so surrounding the center stone are 4 good size diamonds. In addition, there are about 28 more sparkly diamonds around totaling 32 diamonds. It is just a gorgeous ring with very sparkly stones set in platinum. It is not marked so I took to my jeweler here in VA who is a gemologist and she did two different tests and ensured me that it is indeed platinum. The ring obviously belonged to a lady who had small fingers as it is a size 4.75 (approximately).
