This has been one of my favorite paintings for many years. Painted by Minette Teichmueller, Texas artist it measures 8 3/4" x 5 1/2" (visible painting only) This does not include the frame which has glass over the entire painting. The painting is signed twice, once on the front lower corner and once again on the back. M. Teichmueller was born in LaGrange, Texas January 26, 1872, the daughter of Judge Hans Teichmueller and Augusta Kellner. She was married to Hugo David Pohl, they lived outside San Antonio in Bernie, TX. It was a small house in the woods with one room dedicated to Hugo's paintings. Perhaps this was that charming little house.
At age 67 and during the Great Depression, she was commissioned to paint the mural in the Smithville, Texas Post Office. As of 1994, the mural was still there and in good condition.
Minette Teichmueller (1872- ?) I could not find the year of her death.
This is a vibrant little work of art and sure to delight the eye of the Texas art collector. This painting will ship by Priority Mail and will be carefully packed. It will require full insurance. Please e-mail with any questions, thank you for visiting my shop.
