Trillium blooming is a sure sign of spring, and this intimate plein-air watercolor captures that magical view from 1937.
The painting is very skillfully done, with many delicately layered passages of color.
Signed by Owen Hayes, it is in its original frame, an 1890's antique walnut frame which was painted white (by the artist?) with old enamel paint. Together, this is a beautiful and nostalgic piece.
