Music is an important part of Thailand's culture. Their highly stylized art reflects this love in painting and sculpture. This image of three musicians was made by placing a piece of hand-made rice paper on top of a low-relief carved-stone sculpture and rubbing over the high areas with some sort of black ink or crayon.
The rubbing is float-mounted so that all the edges of the paper show, and it is stylishly presented in a deep shadow-box gun-metal aluminum frame. The frame and rubbing appear to date from the 1990's.
Overall frame size = 26" x 28"
