This is an early albumen print from about 1870, which shows a humorous painting showing a horse-drawn chariot pulled by mismatched horses and loaded with several generations of an Italian family. The master of the house, wearing a Neapolitan hat, looks at us with a satisfied grin. The photo is captioned "Neapolitan Caryall" in ink on the mount, under the photo.
The photo was published by G. Sommer, and bears his blindstamp in the lower right corner. It's hard to photograph, but it's there!
The print size is 7.25" x 9.5", the mount is 13" x 16" The photo is on excellent condition, and the mount has some discoloration and a few smudges. The card stock has cut, rounded corners.
