This lovely, realistically detailed oil painting dates from the early 1800's, and is likely German. The woman's hair is immaculate, and you can count the beads on her red necklace.
The ornate oval-centered frame is newer, and lined with red velvet. The painting is on paper, which was a common substrate used by European artists wanting a smooth surface to paint on. It has been removed from an old damaged canvas mount, and is now stabilized onto a new lining. The painting is under non-reflective museum glass for protection.
Painting size = 9"x6" (in the oval) the frame is 16"x14"x2.75"
