This amazing Weller 1896-1924 Louwelsa Pansies Vase Lamp Base S6 is 9 inches tall with a base of 3 inches with an opening of 1 7/8 inches. This was purchased at an estate auction. The condition is GREAT with no cracks or chips. As you can see by the pictures, this vase does have underglaze crazing which is barely detectable when viewing the vase in person. This is artist signed with an initial F which would be Frank Ferrell. This can be seen in the 5th picture and is near the base of the stem. WOW what a find!
Please review the high resolution macro pictures because they are part of the description. Please review them carefully and contact with any questions. The white dots are light reflections as well as the white square-shaped reflections. The high gloss makes it difficult to photograph.
I just love this vase and it is just beautiful! The Louwelsa line of pottery was made between the 1896 until 1924. So here is your chance to own a piece of Weller pottery history! The Louwelsa line was offered in many brown undertones with various floral and portrait depictions. This line is likely to have crazing due to the firing high gloss manufacturing process. This is marked S6 and can be seen in the last picture. This has beautiful pansies, which looks like an iris, painted on this vase. An example of this wonderful pattern can be seen on page 60 of the "Warman's Weller Pottery Identification and Price Guide" by Denise Rago and David Rago. This model number has been used as a lamp base. This may have been too but there appears no wear to the top. Also, it appears that the lamp hole was filled and appears to be weighted so it can't get knocked over easily. This a wonderful vase and would make a great addition to your Weller collection. Guaranteed authentic.
