The glass artist Charles Schneider, who began his work in 1918 within the customary motifs of Art Nouveau, but soon mesmerized the world with flamboyant designs that heralded a bold vision of the future. This new design movement was later called Art Deco after the Exposition Internationale des Arts Decoratifs et Industriels Moderne in Paris in 1925. Charles Schneider's contribution to art glass is an extensive, exceedingly varied, hand-blown body of work produced within a short period of time, demonstrating a cross section of glassmaking and decorating skills. His work used every known decorative glass technique, i.e. 'hot' work such as internal decorations, applied glass, imbedded glass, overlaid glass; and 'cold' techniques like enameling, acid treatments, wheel-carving, etching, engraving.

This Charles Schneider glass coupe is a large, impressive piece of art deco in a beautiful smokey gray glass. This piece is commonly known as a "coupe",but we would commonly refer to it as a bowl. This piece has ribbons and curved lines done in the acid-etched technique. A very similar piece can be seen on page 326 of the "Charles Schneider Le Verre Francais - Charder Schneider" reference book.

This is a beautiful example that is sure to compliment any decor. Exceptional detail to every aspect of this piece. Be proud to display this piece of Schneider glass! Perfect decorator piece. Displays exceptionally well from all angles.

Exceptional coupe bowl in that it is undamaged, no chips, no cracks. Very minor wear to the middle from previous owner's use. Any non-perfections are from the firing/manufacturing process. Dimensions are below.
