Weller pottery was opened in 1872 by Sam Weller in Fultonham, Ohio. They often used one shape for several lines. The company manufactured hand-decorated pottery in its early years and often were artist signed. Weller produced numerous lines of pottery between 1895 and 1945. The company permanently closed in 1948.
The Hobart line was produced from the early through late 1920's. This line includes many figural pieces, some bowls, candle holders, some nudes and most commonly found covered in a matt turquoise glaze. The deco-style standing figures and their flower frogs are of particular interest even to the most avid collector. This Hobart candle holder is glazed in a pleasing matt pink. Highly unusual to find in any condition.
Great arts and crafts design - simple with a great pleasing glaze. This candle holder is really an exceptional example and a perfect addition to any pottery collection.
Exceptional candle holder in that it is undamaged, no chips, no cracks, no scratches to glaze and some very minor underglaze crazing. Any non-perfections are from the firing/manufacturing process including glaze misses and glaze pops.
Authentic and stamped Weller.
