Muncie Pottery started production of art pottery in 1919 as the Muncie Clay Products Company. Muncie Pottery started as a subsidiary of the German-American Clay Company. Muncie Pottery like so many of the other American art pottery companies closed its doors as a victim of the depression in 1939.
The green drip over purple/lilac is a beautiful glaze. This is a nice mantle vase. Beautiful shape that will please any collector. Wonderful ribbed design adds depth to the vase while the 4 corner pulled rim shows differently from every side. Really a unique piece that anyone would be proud to call their own. Displays exceptionally well from all angles. The decorator did an exceptional job with this glaze as the colors blend so well together. No harsh lines or color breaks. Just a beautiful example. In my opinion, this would make a wonderful addition to any Muncie Pottery collection or any pottery collection.
Exceptional vase in that it is undamaged, no chips, no cracks, no scratches to glaze and free from crazing. Any non-perfections are from the firing/manufacturing process. Some high gloss was applied to one side at the factory. This item was inspected with a Mil-spec UVA (365NM) and UVC (254NM) high intensity ultra-violet light and no evidence of repair or modification was detected. The white spots are studio light reflections. Dimensions are below.
