Muncie Pottery started production of art pottery in 1919 as the Muncie Clay Products Company. Muncie Pottery started as a subsidiary of the German-American Clay Company. Muncie Pottery like so many of the other American art pottery companies closed its doors as a victim of the depression in 1939.
The black gloss is a beautiful glaze although it may look brown in the pictures. Very nice but hard to find glaze color. This is a nice mantle or cabinet vase. Beautiful shape that will please any collector. In my opinion, this would make a wonderful addition to any Muncie Pottery collection or any pottery collection.
Exceptional vase in that it is undamaged, no chips, no cracks, no scratches to glaze. Probably could use another good cleaning to bring out the colors even more. Mild underglaze crazing that appears more pronounced due to the macro camera lens. On the bottom is a manufacturing flaw when removed from the kiln and a piece was left behind. Any non-perfections are from the firing/manufacturing process. This item was inspected with a Mil-spec UVA (365NM) and UVC (254NM) high intensity ultra-violet light and no evidence of repair or modification was detected. The white spots are studio light reflections. Dimensions are below.
