This is a charming Victorian period inkwell with a darling painted metal hound lying on the ground with his head down. Attached to him are several branches which hold a molded glass inkwell with a gilt top shaped like a flower. A pair of painted beige antlers form the pen rest. The piece is in good but not great condition. One branch is separated but included it was previously glued , paint is missing from the antlers and there is a chip in the inkwell under the lid. I think there was some repainting under the doggie. The dog is excellent and looks like a Vienna bronze because of the fine detail and the paint. This is a rare relic and perfect for any animal collection. It measures 5" long, 4 1/2" wide and 2 1/2" high. A charmer looking for a new home.
