This is a 1920's print of a well know original by Douglas Arthur Teed who was born in 1864 and died in 1929.
The subject matter is the cave or selling spot of an orientalist figure surrounded by his vessels for sale. The merchandise is pictured resemble Pewabic wheel thrown vases, amphora and jars that were popular in the Arts & Crafts movement in the 1903 era and continue to be remade today in the United States. This print is on canvas board and measures framed 31" long by 23" wide. The actual image measures 27 1/2" long by 20" high. The painting is in excellent condition but appears murky as it is inside with no lighting. There is a bright gold frame as shown.
The condition is very good condition. It was found still hanging in it's original Arts and Crafts home. It is a mysterious and highly detailed piece with Orientalist overtones that fascinated Teed. He is still held in high regard and his art hangs in many museums permanent collections.
