This is an amazing set of vintage Chinese gold gilt silver (tested 800) jewelry that consists of a large cuff bracelet and huge matching ring.It is thought to be a duck carved in the bracelet which would symbolize wedded bliss in Mandarin culture The cuff bracelet is 9" long and 2 1/2" at the widest point. It has two side segments and a large center portion dome that curved in shape. The center of the bracelet has a carved oval Tiger's eye flower in rich umber hues. It is also decorated with Chinese symbols of raised enamel in purple, turquoise and cobalt blue. The sides of the cuff have extensive enameling. There is a tongue and box clasp and a safety chain. The word China appears on the interior of the cuffs ornate frame.
There is a matching ring with the same motif that is adjustable for size, it is currently 6 1/2. It measures 1 3/4"
from the top is 1 1/2" wide. The center has the carved tiger's eye flower and a 1/2" enameled border. The ring is a carve amber colored flower. The set is in excellent condition with only slight loss of enamel due to normal wearing and storage.
I bought this set this week from a well known New York interior designer and art collector. Other decorative items from her amazing home will be listed over the next few months as her escrow firms up.
