This is an exceptional and rare plant stand with three shelves. It is French from the ART NOUVEAU period and signed on the top GALLE'. The plant stand comes from the home of three time Emmy award winning comedy writer Jenna McMahon. Jenna a well known collector of all things beautiful. She used to run from the set of the Carol Burnett show to a local auction house at lunch to bid on her favorite pieces. Her collection was legendary. After a big earthquake in Santa Monica she moved to Carmel, California. Earthquakes and living by the ocean for many years has effected the plant stand. There is some lifting of inlay and a few stress cracks. On the bottom of the last shelf is a long would that is not deep, but it must be mentioned. The plant stand is supported by three angled out legs and each of the three shelves is decorated in ornate floral displays. The flowers are orchids, irises, and poppies all in lovely soft woods and high polished for the best finish. There are also several kinds of foliage that would be expected with such flowers. The plant stand is 44" high, the top shelf is 16" from corner to corner. The second shelf is 12 "x 12" x 12". The third and bottom shelf is 15" x 15"x 15". Each has a beveled wood edge some have little nicks. The legs have been visited by the vacuum cleaner. All in all for it's age and living conditions the plant stand is sturdy. It does have waxy build up and needs cleaning. I can't imagine actually covering any of the shelves because they are so special. This piece would have been made by Emile Galle" around 1900 in France. These pieces are so rare that I had a hard time pricing it. A purist will want to refinish it and add a high polish, others like me will love it just as it is. It has high design, a great maker and flower power. What more can you ask for. This piece will require a professional shipper of your choice and at your cost. We advise blanket and cello wrap with a special box made. It will be available from my store 7 days a week 10am-5pm. Store hours are not flexible. We have a roll up door and are freeway close in Sebastopol, California off of the 101 freeway. 1 1/2 hour North of San Francisco.
