Offered for sale is this lovely Georgian 9ct gold and seed pearl mourning stickpin. The glazed locket compartment contains plaited hair of a loved one.
This is one of the earliest stickpins with the zig zag pin, invented in the 18th century but soon was replaced in the early 19th century by a straight pin with spiral twist.
The top measures 1/2 inch diameter and the overall length is 2 1/2 inches. The gold has been electronically tested as 9 carat gold.
This is in very good condition and will arrive in a brand new gift box.
