Shipping, Handling, Insurance Policy

Buyer pays actual shipping & insurance charges only (including the delivery confirmation fee): we absolutely do NOT charge a handling fee. We will happily combine your purchases to lower the total shipping costs.

Estimated shipping to US destinations for basic items: Most clothing will be between $6.50 and $9.75 for priority mail...smaller items can be sent via first class for a little less, however, priority does include insurance, up to a set amount. Heavier coats usually start around $15. Bulkier items are dependent upon destination, and can run between around $8 to $30 typically. For the heavier/bulkier items, we may ship via Fedex as it can be less expensive, therefore we require an actual address (rather than a post office box number), and a telephone number in order to utilize this alternative shipper for such items.

We happily welcome International Orders, but for larger items, we may need to figure shipping separately. We require delivery confirmation. Please email us for estimated rates per item. Please see additional International Buyers Guideline below.

We USED to require insurance be purchased to cover items, we no longer do, HOWEVER, we will not be held responsible for items lost by the USPS for either domestic or international sales.

IF you want insurance, the calculator will let you know the amount, IF you wish to decline insurance on your item, just click the designated box to do so.

First Class International mail cannot be insured via USPS, but we do sometimes insure with IPIC insurance for such packages. The USPS issues a number when a package is dropped off that corresponds with the customs form number, however they are not capable of tracking beyond US borders.

If you are an international buyer, please be familiar with your country's import and customs rules as they vary from country to country, and they are beyond our control. (*FOR EXAMPLE: UK shoppers: a good rule of thumb is to expect to pay approx 1/3 extra on top of the purchase price in import charges, eg 33% extra to the UK government for processing through customs. )

Restocking Fee

We charge a 20% restocking fee on all returned items.

Layaway Policy

This shop offers a layaway plan for purchases. The Ruby Lane Return Policy does not apply to layaway purchases, and Layaway Plans may vary by shop. It is extremely important to read and understand this shops Layaway Plan below, and clarify any terms with the individual shop owner before you enter into a Layaway Plan agreement.

Other Information


Import duties, taxes and charges are not included in the item price or shipping rates. These charges are set country by country, and are the buyer's responsibility to be aware of them, and to be responsible for any additional fees that may arise from them.

Please check with your country's customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to buying. *FOR EXAMPLE: UK shoppers: a good rule of thumb is to expect to pay approx 1/3 extra on top of the purchase price in import charges, eg 33% extra to the UK government for processing through customs.

These charges are normally collected by the delivering freight (shipping) company or when you pick up the item – do not confuse them for additional shipping charges.

We do not mark merchandise values below value or mark items as "gifts" - US and International government regulations prohibit such behavior.

We will be happy to gift wrap an order and ship to a third party for any holiday or special event you may have coming up!

We charge a flat fee of $3 for an item wrapped in tissue and placed in a gift bag, then in the mailing box, or $5 for tissue, box and wrap within a mailing box.
