I respond to questions and orders as quickly as I can, usually the same day for e-mail. Please use the Email Shop Owner link on the left hand navigation bar, or write to me directly at mjbakst@yahoo.com. It may take several days or more to receive an answer by phone.

I do my best to describe all items accurately, and I consider my photographs to be an integral part of the descriptions. If you have any questions, would like to see a specific view, or have additional knowledge about an item that might help me do better, please don't hesitate to get in touch. I believe in good communication, and want you to be happy with your purchases from my shop.

Shipping, Handling, Insurance Policy

I ship most small, light boxes USPS Priority. Larger boxes (over 12 x 12 x 12), heavy boxes or packages traveling longer distances may ship USPS Parcel Select or USPS Standard Post, or with a private carrier such as FedEx, FedEx Ground, or UPS.

Insurance is required. Insurance is not available to certain countries, and shipping to these countries will be at my discretion, and at the customers risk.

Free domestic shipping applies to the lower 48 states only. Please inquire about shipping charges to Alaska and Hawaii.

I am happy to combine items to save on shipping if it is possible and practical.

I will be happy to provide a shipping quote and arrange shipping for large items, including furniture. For large furniture I use reputable, professional shippers who provide "white glove" service within the Continental United States. I can suggest shippers and/or provide a shipping quote for these items to Alaska, Hawaii, and many other destinations worldwide. Please inquire.

Restocking Fee

My shop does not have a restocking fee on non-layaway purchases. However, shipping/handling/insurance charges, including return shipping/handling/insurance are non-refundable. If an item ships for free, the cost of the initial shipping/handling/insurance will be deducted from your refund.

LAYAWAYS: Even though my shop shows the default of 'No Layaways,' I will consider layaways on an item-by-item basis; a one-size-fits-all approach does not work when items are so different one from another. PLEASE INQUIRE.

Layaways are not subject to Ruby Lane's return policy, however, my shop does accept returns on Layaways. Returned Layaways are subject to a twenty-five percent restocking fee, and Cancelled Layaways are subject to a twenty-five percent Cancellation fee. This is because the item has been held off the market.

I reserve the right to cancel any Layaway if payments are not made in a timely manner as agreed upon. I'm not difficult to contact or communicate with, so if there is a problem concerning your Layaway payment, please get in touch sooner rather than later, good communication is essential.

I also ask that layaways pay via check or money order.

Other Information

Any customs duties and/or any import taxes are the responsibility of the buyer.

I subscribe to Ruby Lane's return policy for domestic and international sales. In short: I must be notified of a return within three days of receipt of the item and I will acknowledge and approve the return within three days of buyers notification. The Item must be shipped back to me within three days of my acknowledgment of the return, insured and by the same method it was shipped to you. In case of a return the cost of the item will be refunded when it is returned in the condition in which it was sent. Outward shipping/insurance costs and return shipping/insurance costs are not refundable.

Orders shipped to New York State, or picked up from me in NY, will be assessed NYS sales tax. If the item(s) are being purchased for resale, you must provide a Resale Certificate (hard copy) completed with your valid NY Tax Exempt Number (or other appropriate state number if you are a not a resident of NY) and declaration of intention to resell the item being purchased. No exceptions.

All payments must be in USD and clear before shipment.
