Shipping, Handling, Insurance Policy

Any damage or misdescribed items must be made within 7 business days of receipt(if you are going to be out of town, please have someone at least open the package and inspect the item if there is any damage to the box). Keep all packing materials until the claim is resolved(required by insurance company). Smaller items are generally shipped via USPS priority mail up to 3 or 4 pounds or even more if within 500 miles of my location. If an item is heavier than 3 pounds, or customer is long distance, it is most likely shipped parcel post, or rarely FedEx. Our UPS shop here is out of the way, and keeps terrible hours....we only have USPS or FEDEX(neither of which have we had an issue with in recent memory). All shipments of $500 and over will require a signature confirmation. All international shipments over $500 will be shipped USPS EMS or FedEx(5 day or sooner) depending on insurance coverages and value of item. Many countries I must require payment via money order, personal check drawn on US account, or wire transfer in order to ship to 1)Former Soviet countries and Russia, 2) Most African countries, and 3) Various other countries that we are unable to fully insure via shipping carrier and/or our shipping insurance policy(I will let purchasers know as soon as I find out what country I have to ship to....most of the persons in these countries know already the difficulties they may incur. We carry 3rd party insurance through shipsurance which we find superior(you may check their countries list to see about coverages) along with partial standard carrier provided insurance where applicable. Buyer pays actual shipping, insurance, packing materials cost, and labor for packer. Buyers are responsible for all customs duties/fees, we are not liable for them in any case. We do not charge extra for the professional packing, and I have NEVER had an insurance or misdescribed claim from any customer on Ruby Lane as of 2/1/2017.....going on 9 years! Knocking on wood.

Restocking Fee

All returns are for cost of item only. I do not have a restocking fee. Shipping is paid by customers both ways unless I flagrantly mis-describe an item(have never had this happen in 9 years on RL). If there is a scratch it will be visible in photos as I rotate and photograph items from all angles, especially if there is a mark or anything unusual with an item. Remember though, we sell almost exclusively pre-owned items that are hand-made and small flaws are common within the artistic/manufacturing process, not to mention I specialize in glass and porcelains which are unfortunately prone to damages(but we pack above and beyond, and I have shipped $100,000 porcelain items).....I declare all unusual visible(and sometimes not) value affecting marks or damages. I also need to know ahead of time if there is a 3rd party involved through the buyer, as I do consignments, and I pay my consignors promptly which is usually within a week(some sooner) after receipt of item. All layaways are considered forfeit if payments are not received in timely fashion(I am not a stickler, but if I send a notice it is usually because I have not received a scheduled payment within at least double the alloted time). No payments are refunded as the items are reserved, not for sale, or even made visible to other parties that very well, could or would purchase said item(s).
