Sneak Preview: Ruby Lane Launches Ruby Plaza: New Site for Home Decor, Jewelry, Fashion & Accessories, Handcrafted Items

We are pleased to announce the launch of Ruby Plaza, an exciting new home to individually-owned shops offering Home Decor, Jewelry, Fashion & Accessories, and Handcrafted items, powered by Ruby Lane. This announcement is a “sneak preview.” Ruby Plaza will officially launch in Beta mode on Tuesday, April 20th, 2010.

Ruby Plaza is designed to offer a wider selection of items than does our flagship sister site, Ruby Lane. Unlike Ruby Lane, new items in all categories, as well as reproductions, and handcrafted items of all types are welcomed. Ruby Plaza’s selling guidelines are different than those of Ruby Lane, in order to reach a different audience of both buyers and sellers. While the site is currently live, it is still in pre-Beta mode. New shops will be able to begin the opening process beginning at Noon PDT on Tuesday, April 20th, 2010.

You will notice that there are some shops already open on Ruby Plaza. These shops are Ruby Lane shops who served as pre-Beta testers during the site set-up process. This was a random group of shops that are in good standing on Ruby Lane. We also considered shops across varying categories to help ensure a range of items at the time of launch.

One-Stop Shopping
Ruby Plaza offers a new way to shop. Now you can find a complete range of Home Decor items ranging from furniture and accessories to lighting, bedding and window coverings - all in one category. Other categories include new and vintage Fashion & Accessories, and Jewelry. Our Collectibles category allows for both new and vintage collectibles. Our Handcrafted category welcomes bath and beauty products, candles, handcrafted dolls, needlecraft, edibles, toys, supplies to name just a few.

Different Guidelines and Categories
Ruby Plaza’s differing categories allow it to reach a completely different market than Ruby Lane. Many types of items can be listed on Ruby Plaza that are not allowed on Ruby Lane - and we invite you to take advantage of it. For example, new items are welcomed in every category. Do you have new home decor items such as furniture or bath and bedding items? Or maybe you have contemporary jewelry items that you have not been able to list on Ruby Lane. Now you can! And we invite you to spread the word – as Ruby Plaza welcomes Ruby Lane shops as well as sellers who have never sold with us before!

Same Easy-To-Use Tools and Features
While Ruby Plaza has its own look and feel, the tools and features on Ruby Plaza mirror those on Ruby Lane. Now both buyers and sellers can enjoy the same easy to use shopping and shop management tools for which Ruby Lane is well known, while reaching a different audience.

Galleria Plan: $59/month

Join As A Flagship Shop and Receive Lifetime Benefits
Ruby Plaza has some exciting promotional opportunities for sellers who want to join early. The first 500 shops to officially open on Ruby Plaza receive “Flagship” status with lifetime benefits. There are spaces available for 250 Ruby Lane Flagship shops, and 250 Flagship spaces for new sellers. No exceptions. Flagship status is based on the time you sign up to create your shop. You must request to open within 5 days of initial sign-up to complete your Flagship status. We recommend that you take extra care in setting up your shop to ensure that it meets all guidelines in order to speed the opening process. You’ll be able to identify Flagship shops by the icon which displays on their shop home page.

Remain Exclusive on Ruby Lane
Ruby Lane Exclusive shops should note that while the guidelines for the site are different, Ruby Lane and Ruby Plaza make up the Ruby Lane “Family” of sites, so shops can sell similar or identical items on both sites and remain Exclusive on Ruby Lane.

Easy Shop Set-Up
No technical experience is required to open a Ruby Plaza shop. Our guided setup process makes it a breeze to get up and running quickly. Our extensive FAQ section offers user-friendly guidance in every aspect of setting up and managing your online shop. If you’re a non-Ruby Lane shop would like to open a Ruby Plaza shop, begin by going to SELL from the Ruby Plaza home page. Then choose Open A Shop. Scroll down to Step One.

Ruby Lane Shops: One Step Set-Up
Ruby Lane shops who choose to open on Ruby Plaza as well, can do so with our one-step set-up tool. We create a new registered user and preview shop on Ruby Plaza under the nickname you select. We copy all your Ruby Lane shop and user information to your new Ruby Plaza account, including your password. Your two shops share the same item listings if you choose, with the exception of categories. Or you can change the items within one shop or the other. You’ll be open on both sites in minutes! Ruby Lane shops can begin the opening process by signing into their Ruby Lane shop and going to their shop owners home under SELL. Scroll down to the Ruby Plaza logo and click on it.

Complete Range of Tools to Manage your Shop
On Ruby Plaza you can choose from our targeted selection of faceted categories, or pick your own. Our automated customer contact tools make it easy for you to stay in touch with customers. Our “Power Update” feature allows you to change the status of a large group of items with just a few clicks. Our "Vacation Mode" feature allows you to tell customers when you'll be away with the option of allowing them to shop in your absence. Our "backroom" feature serves as a hidden area to “store” items for inventory management.

Free Auction Management Tools
Our simple Send To Auction feature allows you to send any item to auction at no extra charge. Ruby Plaza buyers have direct links to your shop items up for auction at any site. There is an ad creator, picture hosting and picture gallery, all included.
