Three Vintage Ideas for a Glamorous Spring and Summer Ruby Lane blog

1) Have a Tabletop Party for Spring: Celebrate every day with a tabletop party as a reminder of spring! Add color! Accent your dining nook by your kitchen with bright yellow placemats (or a colorful vintage tablecloth) and pull out your Grandma’s cut glass pitcher. Vintage Jadeite and Fiestaware are durable, and perfect springtime monochromatic collectibles for this time of year. The photo gives some wonderful inspiration for your table! Photo via Tobi Fairley

2) Buy a Big Pitcher for Flowers: They are generous in size and don’t tip over when holding those cut flowers and cherry branches from your garden or your favorite florist. Springtime and early summer are the one time of year that you get the wonderfully large flowers. We especially love enamel milk pitchers with a patina around the edges, but you can get glass, or enamel, whatever fits your mood! Get something substantial to hold a 16” tall iris and get ready to stand up to the excitement of Mother Nature.

3) Prepare for Spontaneous Summer Picnics: You need to prepare ahead of time and find cool vintage picnic accessories so that when you do a glamorous picnic on a whim, you will be prepared! Don’t go for perfection. Get something that might have a couple small stains or patina so you can throw it in the wash.  A vintage tablecloth is perfect for the park. Also, pick up some wacky corn on the cob holders and fun canteens for children to take their lemonade. Now is the time to prepare for making some precious memories.
